Saab Classic 900i Convertible
FOR SALE!

I've had this car a long time (see my first post, April 2011) but I have been working on it!
As you can see it has 239,000 miles on the clock but the engine, gearbox, steering and suspension have all been replaced with salvaged items from a 75,000 mile car. When you drive it it drives like a 75,000 mile car.
It also has a new rear hood section (the expensive bit!), some nice classic aero alloys and the rusty passenger door has been replaced.
When it is sold it will also have a new windscreen, MOT and service.

I'm looking for about £2,500.

SAAB SONNET 111

Look what I've got!

A very cool 96!
This is a replica rally car but very nicely done.....

This verona green 96 has only 51,000 miles (sorry Olive).
Sadly low mileage = lack of use which = problems with the brakes.

I can supply reconditioned master cylinders, callipers and wheel cylinders as well as new brake hoses and hand brake cables.
I have good second hand drums but sadly no discs at the moment.

Drop me a line if you need your V4 brakes sorting.

There are some good 9000s left!
When fitting new front brake hoses on a V4 don't forget the little copper washer between the hose and the calliper.
In twenty years I've never had a problem with using the old one!

(apologies for the rubbish photo!)

This is Olive, a particularly nice old 96 in my favourite colour of verona green.

Sometimes I get a V4 in and you can just tell that the indicated 104,000 miles is genuine, Not 204,000 or 504,000! The seats aren't shot and the suspension doesn't crash and groan over speed-humps.

Olive is one of those! A lovely old car with an excellent owner.

Aladdin's cave

Recently a new female customer took one look around my workshop and said; "I've worked in mental health for twenty five years and I know a hoarder when I see one!"

She probably wasn't wrong........

But what could be bad for my mental health is good for you if you have an old Saab.
This picture shows the inside of one of my four lock-ups and, yes, all those boxes contain bits of old Saab.

So if you have a V4, 99, classic 900 or 9000 and you need a part please email me to see if I have it.

Saab 9-3 convertible for sale

I have two manual 9-3 convertibles for sale.
They are both being extensively refurbished.
The silver one is a Turbo with the desirable "air-flow" body kit. It has a grey leather interior and 108,600 miles.
The green one is a non-turbo. It has a very nice light tan leather interior and only 86,000 miles.
The silver one will be starting at about £2,500 and the green one at about £1,500.
Either one can be enhanced with a new hood, different alloys or Abbott Racing upgrades (etc.) to your spec.

Please phone or email for more information. 020 8892 3232 saabdoctor@saabv4.co.uk

If a car ever had fitness for purpose in this weather it's the Saab 99.

There is plenty of traction with all the weight over the front (driven) wheels and the skinny (165-15) tyres grip well. There is also an excellent heater/ventilation system to keep it warm and the windows clear and excellent visibility.
Provided you've got a good battery and plenty of anti-freeze they love it!

I'd chose a 99 over a 900 in the snow any day. This one is still for sale (please see my May 2011 post http://saabdoctor.blogspot.co.uk/2011/05/saab-99-1983-for-sale.html )

This is a rare old girl; a 9000CD with a 2.3L turbo engine.
They only sold a few hundred of these in the UK but I expect they sold more in the US where big saloons are more popular and hatchbacks almost unheard of.
Because they sold so few parts are starting to get tricky, particlarily the lights which were unique to the CD.

It's actually a very nice car to drive and fast too. If you had a new 9000 against a new 9-5 (and you weren't interested in cup holders or the sleeker styling) I think you'd choose the 9000. They feel way more solid and planted on the road.

If you have a FoMoCo carb on your V4 please bin it!
They weren't very good when the cars were new, now they're at least 35 years old they are fire bombs....
You need one of these, a Weber 34ICH.

I sell them in a kit, correctly jetted for a 1500cc V4 and with everything you need to fit it.
If you have a 95L or a 96L I also have the earlier inlet manifolds available.

Please call 020 8892 3232 or email for more details. nicksaabdoctor@gmail.com

I'm breaking this one for spares; Saab 9-3 2.0L i manual, most parts available.

Sadly the ventilation system is broken so the interior is soaking and there are just too many other small faults to make this car worth fixing. Oh and it needs a clutch!
However, the engine and gearbox are excellent and everything works so there are many good parts to be had.

A busy day at the office!

This is a nice old 95 and now it's been here for a week or so it's running a lot better.
I get this quite often; a pretty solid V4 but one that's not been looked at by a specialist for years and years. Things are fitted wrongly and all the tuning is miles out. This 95 has had a re-con gearbox, new carb, new clutch, recon alternator and new balance shaft bearings.
With all that work done it now has a chance of pulling the skin off a rice pudding!

From the old to the (quite) new. The 9-3 SportsSaloons are pretty good and now that they're getting on a bit we're finding that they're reliable so long as you keep on top of any electronic problems that may crop up. I can undertake any servicing or repair work that you may need and I have an excellent sub-contractor who is an expert in Saab electronics so we have these cars covered.
If you have a 1.9TiD don't neglect the cam-belt or the water pump. Change them at about 60,000 miles and it'll cost about £250. Wait until one or the other breaks and it'll cost more than £1,000.

I'm breaking this one for spares; Saab 9-5 2.0L LPT, all parts available.

Sadly the engine is shot and there are just too many other small faults to make this car worth fixing.
However, the grey cloth interior is clean and everything works so there are many good parts to be had.

Just call 020 8892 3232 or email me for more details. nicksaabdoctor@gmail.com

Saab 900 Tjugofem (1985) for sale

This is by far the most classic "Classic" 900 I've owned!
Not only is the two door body style the prettiest but it also drives the best as it's also the stiffest.

Tjugofem (pronounced Sugar-fem) is Swedish for 25, they were produced to celebrate 25 years of Saab in the UK. There were only 300 made.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saab_900#900_Tjugofem

It is an 8v i but it features the Turbo body kit, body coloured grill and door mirrors, special badges and a silver gear knob. The car is mostly original but the dark grey leather interior and Ronal wheels were added later.
I think it's beautiful.

The car is fully working, serviced and is MOTed until June 2012.
It is for sale as-is for £2,000 or with any extra work you specify P.O.A.

Please call or email for further information and/or more photos.

Saab 99 1983 for sale

This is the nicest 99 I've had for ten years!

I've recently acquired it from a customer who had spent in excess of £3,000 on it in the last three years. It's had all new ball joints, track rod ends, front brakes, re-trimmed headlining, etc., etc.
Since I've had it it's had a reconditioned carb, new fuel pump, new clutch slave, re-cored rad and a massive service.

I'm anticipating a bit more work before it's ready to sell but this'll all be included in the sale price of £1,500.

If you're looking for a 99 this is a good one and a bargain to boot!

Please call or email for further details and more photos.

Saab 900i convertible for sale

I've now started working on this slightly sad looking Classic. It's done more than 260,000 miles and is getting a major renovation.

The good news is that it's solid and the hood is in good condition. The bad news is the gear box has exploded!!

I've now stripped the 75,000 mile crashed car and the engine, gearbox, suspension, steering and interior are going to be transferred to the silver car.
I am also going to make sure that the body and paintwork are in good condition and fit a set of alloy wheels.

If you like the sound of this the finished car will be ready to keep driving well past 400,000 miles (if properly looked after) and will be priced from about £2,500.

Please call 020 8892 3232 or email nicksaabdoctor@gmail.com for more details.
